What a doll! This week I had the pleasure of working with the gorgeous Nia Sioux. You probably recognise this sweetheart as being the only cast member to appear on all seven seasons of US TV show, “Dance Moms”. More recently Nia has appeared on “The Bold and the Beautiful” as Forrester Creations intern, Emma.
Nia was on "Dance Moms" from the ages of 9 to 16 and now that she’s 17 she’s stepping away from the dance world to focus on her acting and music.
She was in Australia to promote her new TV role, and had a packed day of media appearances including “Studio Ten”, photo shoots and interviews. It was important to create a hair and makeup look that stood up to lighting and close up photography.
For Nia’s look I created a natural satin finish base, sculpting four different shades of MAC fix fluid, mixed with a NARS iridescent cream. I brought out the youthfulness of the skin with a matte peach and pink blush applied at the apples.
I kept the eye makeup minimal, playing up the lash line with a gel liner blended to the roots and built up individual lashes concentrating them on the outer corners.
We played with different lip looks throughout the day using pencil and tinted lip conditioner for when Nia had to do a lot of talking, and a highly pigmented gloss for when she switched to photoshoots.
A subtle but key part of Nia’s look is her perfectly manicured brows which was achieved with Anastasia Beverly Hills brow shadows and wax used to brush up and out.
Stay tuned for my next blog post on how to keep your makeup lasting all day!
